In partnership with the Mohammadian League of Scholars (Rabita Mohammadia of Ulemas) and the American Embassy in Morocco, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation organized the 1st Regional Conference for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage for Religious Communities (Rabat, 3-4 October 2019).
At the end of this meeting, the Ta’aruf Center – Morocco Interfaith and Peacebuilding Research and Training Center, affiliated to the Rabita – was appointed to implement one of the recommendations, the setting up of a website and on-line forum.
The website and forum’s objectives are :
- Continuity in terms of connecting and communicating, sharing skills, research and expertise available among participants
- A monitoring role in the field of cultural heritage initiatives, documentation on innovative projects etc.
The Forum will allow the conversations started at the Conference in Rabat to be continued, specifically the issues dealing with:
- Shared responsibility and respective roles of states, international organizations and faith communities in the preservation of their tangible and intangible heritage
- Specific programs, projects and et initiatives that can be accessed to support religious communities whose heritage is at risk.
The information shared on this website mainly refers to countries which were represented at the Rabat Conference – but not exclusively. A number of very useful links have been compiled to provide you with a non-exhaustive list of websites. .
We plan a different focus each month in the dialog boxes.
We hope this tool will be useful in strengthening the network each one of you is an essential part of !
NB : The Ta’aruf Center, affiliated to the Mohammadian League of Scholars, will manage the website and its contents during the year 2020.
